Panathlon

On Thursday 23rd October, nine students from Columbus School and College qualified and took part in the Panathlon East Regional Final at Braintree College. This is the first time that Panathlon has decided to bring all of the County Champions together in regional clusters to see which teams were “the best of the best.” The Final at the College in Braintree, saw the County Champions in the East competing together for the first time, and Columbus were very proud to be their competing against the other schools.

The Panathlon Challenge is devised of 6 different activities Boccia, Kurling, Table Cricket, Polybat, Field Athletics and Races. Columbus were very proud to get the GOLD medals in Kurling and Boccia, two SILVER medals for field athletics; Shot Putt and Long Jump and the BRONZE medals for Javelin and Table Cricket. Overall Columbus School and College came THIRD in the East Regional Panathlon Final. It was a great atmosphere and the standards were really high, it was a fantastic day and all students and staff were very proud of themselves. Well Done Columbus!

On Monday 17th November, 10 students from Class 3 took part in the Mid Essex School Sports Association (MESSA) indoor games event at Endeavour School. During the day students took part in activities such as kurling, bowling, archery, golf and building games.

All students were focussed and enjoyed participating in the variety of activities. Some achievements from the day was James S getting a bulls eye on the target throw, Jessica building a tower of 14 bricks which was one of the top scores of the day. Well Done to all and a big Thank you to Jackie Mason for her involvement in the MESSA Games over the past years!
