Welcome back to a new academic year.  I do hope that all our children, young people and their families had a wonderful time together during the holidays and that our staff managed to get the well-earned rest they so deserved.

As always, my sincerest thanks go to all the staff, and indeed Lisa Lakin, who provided quality activities for our young people during the holidays.  It is great that we continue to be able to provide respite and support for families during the long summer break.

As we move further into the new term, the Columbus Team will continue to work on a number of new initiatives and projects and we will keep you all informed of these. We will continue to focus upon the development and enhancement of learning and therapy experiences, resourcing, family support and training opportunities.

I very much look forward to sharing and consulting parents, carers and students on these new projects in the coming weeks and months.

I would like to take this opportunity to offer congratulations to Sammy Brock who has achieved Level 1 Mathematics accredited by Edexcel.  Sammy is the first student to achieve these results for a number of years now.  Well done!

I am pleased to be able to let you know that Ann Samson had a baby boy, Aden Craig, born on 30th July. Congratulations!

Finally, just to update you on my own personal news; my second son, Farren Thomas, was born on 26thAugust.  My maternity leave at present is a part-time arrangement whilst I try to juggle family and Columbus.  Should you need to contact me at any time please do so via my PA, Pauline Miller.

With best wishes to you all.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. G. Bellard
