From The Principal…

Yuletide felicitations to you all!

The young people and staff have been very busy over the last week, preparing for their Christmas performances, parties and events.

Thank you so much to all the staff, the Friends Fundraising Committee and families of Columbus pupils who set up, ran or attended our Christmas Fair on Saturday 28th November. The event was very well attended and we were thrilled to welcome a number of local businesses as well as friends of the school who came along to put on fun activities for the children and offer opportunities for us all to start to get organised with Christmas presents! We raised in excess of £2,400 which will go towards therapy provision at Columbus – a significant achievement, thank you!

We are very excited to be trying some new Christmassy things this year which include Christmas bag-packing at a local supermarket to raise money for the school and a Christmas carolling performance by the Choir in The Meadows Shopping Centre, Chelmsford on Monday 14th December at 10:30am. We hope that some of you will be able to join the students in the town to enjoy their performance.

A new event to the school is the evening ‘Carols by Candlelight’ event which will be taking place outside the College Campus at 7pm on Monday 14th December. All families and friends of the school are welcome and we hope that this will be a wonderful, community linked event for Columbus which will also be a festive start to the Christmas period for us all.

I look forward to seeing you all at your child’s Christmas performance in the weeks ahead and would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
